Recording: “Modelling data on colonial loot in Wikidata” (GLAM Wiki conference Lissabon, Oct. 2025)

At the Glam Wiki conference in Lisbon, I presented on a since 2023 ongoing collaboration of the project Restitution of Knowledge (and its follow up Repertory of Colonial Plunder) at TU Berlin and Offene Kulturdaten at Wikimedia Germany (mainly my former TU institute colleague Yann LeGall and my team colleage at Wikimedia, Lucy Patterson, where I work sind June 2025). You find documentation about the collaboration here: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:WikiProject_TheRoK

For this talk I also looked into the version history of several data items on Wikidata, to see who collaborated on them. That way I could show how the contributions of the research project connect with previous work done by members of the Dagbani Wikimedians User Group on Wikidata. With this I want to highlight the potential of international, multilingual and transdisciplinary collaboration through Wikidata.

Screenshot of a slide of the presentation, title of the slide: Global collaboration in the Wikimedia movement. A table shows who was editing Wikidata when. summary: 13 accounts worked on 1 item, including 4 bots, 2 members of the Dagbani Wikimedians User Group
