Call for Participation: Fermenting Data Canteen (Berlin, February 1st)
Here’s our Call for Participation (Spontaneous drop-ins are also welcome!) for the Fermenting Data Canteen at TU Berlin February 1st 2023 13:30-17:00: https://fermentingdata.net/berlincanteen/
We invite artists, designers, data analysts, curators, computer scientists, archivists and others to collaboratively curate fermenting data. This event follows a ‘kitchen’ workshop organised as part of NordiCHI 2022 pre-conference in Aarhus in October 2022. In the canteen edition, we will continue to experiment with speculative methods for curating data, while sensing fermenting bodies. We will explore the process of fermentation at different stages by working with different sensors (analog, digital, biological) and we will jointly attempt to structure sensory data into an open, public database (Wikidata).
One thing I am working on in our Fermenting Data collaboration is Conceptual Mapping. In a practical sense, how Linked Open Data platforms like Wikidata can be understood as an interface for collective thinking – while allowing conflicting positions. Which gets actually very exciting, because suddenly we see a convergence of social media and knowledge graphs. Which I understand as the single most important technology for digital hertitage and digital commons around the post-digital museum, especially outside of it, critical of it.
